MADDY AND JEFF / INTIMATE ELOPEMENT

photography - Isabel Nao

It’s a long drive to the tiny village of Vals in the valley of the same name, but of course well worth it. With every kilometer that slides by, you leave a piece of tension and worry behind you on the winding roads. You’ll be sure to have none left when you finally reach a small village with a handful of stone-tiled roofs. Our couple, Maddy and Jeff, was staying in a spacious, light-filled wooden house in an even smaller village, hanging on one of the sides of the valley.

Maddy had picked up her elopement bouquet the day before in a local store, where they had only sunflowers left. Luckily, she loves them! She was binding them together while Jeff copied his vows from his laptop onto a piece of paper that he could take along to their symbolic ceremony location.

As soon as they were ready, we headed out into the surrounding grassy hills, in the quiet late afternoon. The meadows were peppered with spring flowers of a large color palette and we were accompanied by the sound of a small nearby river and multiple waterfalls. They stood on top of a small hill to exchange their vows, with only the wind as their witness.

We then drove to a hidden spot amongst some rocks, with a view over the valley and the opposite mountains. There they enjoyed a quiet moment amongst just the two of them, toasting to their commitment of love with some wonderful champagne. After some more photos it was time to say goodbye, so they could have some time to relax before having dinner in a local mountain restaurant further up into the hills.
