SHAYNA AND TOM / INTIMATE ELOPEMENT

What do a Swiss army knife, unstable internet connection, and last-minute scribbled vows all have in common? They testify to the fact that less is more, and our latest elopement certainly fits into that category.

As we accompanied Shayna and Tom to their elopement with Lake Léman as a backdrop, surrounded by golden grass cliffs, and rustic mountainous rocks, we witnessed a truly genuine and authentic experience.

Not only was their elopement a plan-B kind of wedding (of course, in the nicest sense of the way), what began with chaos, disarray, and uncertainty transformed into the wedding both did not conceive in their wildest dreams. Behind the scenes, Shayna and Tom were forced to cancel their initial wedding in North Carolina due to the sudden interruption of hurricane Florence. Seeing that their honeymoon was planned to be in Switzerland (exploring the Tour du Mont Blanc), they took a slight detour to Lake Geneva where they eloped with us.

Their bona fide Swiss wedding was nothing we had ever experienced before either. The exchange of vows in the afternoon autumn sun, a first dance that was numerously interrupted by a not-so-wonderfully working internet connection (ok fair deal, we were on top of the mountain), and their wedding cake cut with the Swiss army knife we had in our backpack all amounted to moments of pure magic (their words, not ours). Popping champagne in the Swiss alps, shooting photos by a steep ridge, with a grand finale sunset in the infamous vineyards of Lavaux was nothing they had anticipated.
